After 15 hours squeezed into plane seats, the bed felt like sleeping on a cloud. It was soft and comfortable, and the pillows had just the right mix of softness and support. The clean triple room was simply arranged and had a large TV. The bedside table was at the foot of the single bed because the bathroom doorway sat between the beds, so it couldn’t be used for a bedside light switch. The bathroom light worked instead, since its switch was just above the bed. The shower took a while to heat up but was adequate. I didn’t use the lounge. This is a small, quiet and fairly priced B&B very close to Manchester airport Jet Parks Ringway Car park, handy for an overnight stay after a late flight. I booked too late for breakfast, but could bring food and eat in the conservatory, where they provide a microwave, crockery and cutlery. The front door lock didn’t work with the out-of-hours key because it was so worn, but the proprietor didn’t mind me calling him at midnight to let me in. Everything felt cosy and clean, if a little dated. I’m no spring chicken myself, and felt at home. I was grateful they let me book at such short notice and stay at an unsociable hour.

There are plenty of parking spaces, though getting into one can be tight when the lot is full. It’s a good, reasonably priced choice if you need to stay near the airport. I suspect things could feel quite different depending on whether you’re in the house or one of the outside buildings. Our room was freezing when we arrived and took ages to warm up. The heating kept cutting out and we were shivering. It had warmed up by the time we got back from dinner, but I’d been worried it might not.

The hosts were so welcoming, and the full English was top tier. It’s a great little hotel. The room was small, but it had what I needed, so I’d happily stay again if I’m in the area. Parking can be hit or miss with a bigger car when it’s busy.

The leaded stained-glass windows and the roof in the bedroom give the place lots of period character. It’s cute, clean, well priced and in a great spot, with lovely staff. There’s free parking on site, and it’s close to both the airport and Cheadle. A lovely base for visiting the area or catching a flight. I’d stay again x

A night here is enough to see that the old-fashioned decor adds to the charm. It’s a hidden gem. You get a tidy, clean room, great service, a top breakfast and a brilliant location. The building may be three-star, but the stay felt five-star.
