Haleema at reception made me feel welcome straight away with a warm smile, and check-in was easy. She was friendly, professional and attentive, answered my questions, suggested places nearby to visit, and made sure I had what I needed. Her positive manner set the tone for the whole stay. It’s lovely to meet someone who cares about guests and made me feel valued and looked after. She’s a real asset to the hotel.

The stay was better than I expected and good value. Breakfast was included, with plenty of choice, and the waiting staff in the very casual dining area were really good. Special thanks to Leah. I was there for just one night. The room was fairly plain, but had what I needed, including a hair dryer, iron and board, tea and coffee. I found the bed comfortable, and the reception team were welcoming and friendly.

The staff worked especially hard to make our visit enjoyable, from the welcome through to checkout. The hotel was clean, our room was very comfortable, and the food and leisure facilities were really nice. Thanks for a great stay.

The breakfast was good, though I would have liked some halal options. When I asked to have the room refreshed, they didn’t even leave extra tissues in the bathroom. The rooms are three out of five at best: the lighting is dim, and the plugs are awkward. There are no charging points by the bed, and the only two plugs were already being used by the coffee machine, so I couldn’t charge several devices at once. The hotel also felt expensive for its remote location, a long way from the city centre.

The gym and spa need a major clean and basic repairs before I could recommend the club. The staff don’t seem warm or professional, and they could use basic hospitality training. The Hotel Manager needs to leave the office and walk through these facilities to see how bad they’ve become. The hygiene standards need an immediate overhaul. The gym has too many broken treadmills taking up space, and the mats are dirty and don’t seem to be sanitized or replaced often enough. I’ve even seen staff cleaning the treadmills with a mop and bucket, which makes me wonder if that’s why they’re all broken. The spa feels gross rather than relaxing. The steam room tiles are visibly dirty and black, and I can’t remember ever sitting in there and thinking it had been cleaned. The sauna wood is stained until it looks like mud, and it’s disgusting to sit on. There are always puddles on the floor, collecting dirt from people walking through. The showers are filthy, and one of the shower heads in the ladies’ changing room is hanging off the wall. The newly installed plunge pool has been broken for weeks already. Facilities seem to be out of order more often than working. All I ever see is staff with a mop, but the place needs experienced cleaners.
