I ordered the chicken option from the specials board, which advertised chicken or prawn in chorizo paella with a warm baguette. When it arrived, I got a bowl of flavoured rice, very like the packet kind, with sliced chicken breast on top. There was no chorizo. It should have been described as sliced chicken breast with packet rice, and I was very disappointed. I used to admire The Ship and regularly recommend it, but this visit on Saturday 7th March was for lunch and a drink with my wife, and I won't be going back. I'd advise people to eat elsewhere or avoid the specials board.

Before heading to the theatre, we stopped in for a meal. The food was generous and high quality. One of the ladies' loo doors wasn't working, though, which meant there was a queue.

I stayed in the area for a long weekend a few weeks ago, and the same woman served me in the pub area on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon. She was genuinely lovely, warm and chatty, and made me feel at home. The best bar service I've ever had in a pub, full marks. I'd highly recommend it for how friendly and empathetic she was.

A great stay, with really comfortable beds and good food. The old man couldn't get BBC 1 this morning for the football highlights 🤣🤣. Apart from that, we'll definitely be back.
