The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Booking directly with the hotel is best, as breakfast is then free. I paid extra for a double room and thought it was worth it. It was spacious, simply decorated with wooden furniture, and very quiet on the second floor despite the ideal location near the Cathedral.

It was handy being able to leave our luggage while we wandered around the ancient city. The hotel is right in the city centre beside the Christmas markets. Our room was large and cosy, warm without any heating on, and had a comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this old hotel.

The full English was lovely, and the waitress gave us such good service. She kept checking that we had drinks, cutlery and sauces, and couldn’t do enough for us. A really good breakfast experience.

We first came in for a light lunch on Saturday, and the service, staff and food were so fantastic that we returned for Sunday roast. Both meals were lovely, especially the roasts and delicious puddings. Rob, Ronnie, Abby and Vanessa were very hospitable. Rob and Ronnie made us feel so welcome and looked after us so well. Highly recommend this pub and restaurant.

I told them when booking a table for two that my wife is coeliac and needs gluten-free food, and they said it would be no problem. My steak was passable, but the Sea Bass was the worst meal my wife has ever had. It had just been plonked on top of the chips, looked like cardboard, and the vegetables were cold. When I raised it, they made excuses for the chef. They did take 25% off my wife’s meal and gave us a free drink, which was good of them. I will NOT eat there again.
