I came for Sunday lunch rather than an overnight stay, but I’d certainly recommend the place to stay. We had plenty of room, and diners each had their own little area, from tables for two to long family tables. The surroundings were beautiful and the service was good. The meal was outstanding, and we never felt rushed even though it was a busy time. The regular menu had lots of options, and the specials were fresh and delicious. I had fish and my son chose the three-meat roast. I liked that desserts came in regular and smaller sizes, which suited me after a filling meal when I still fancied something sweet. The atmosphere and quality of service were great.

We gathered here for an 80th birthday Sunday roast for my sister. The setting was lovely, and the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was amazing. Dogs are welcome in the bar, and it seems a great spot for walkers to stop for a refuel while exploring the countryside. We’ll be back soon and would recommend it for a celebration, lunch or just a drink.

We really enjoyed our time at the White Horse and would happily return. Our room had everything we needed, though early morning door slamming kept reaching us because it was near the back of the kitchen. We also had a very nice evening meal. I wish someone had mentioned the Chef’s specials when we ordered, as I would have picked something different. Later, a large table arrived and staff read the specials board aloud to them.

A one-night stay that was excellent for its location, room, service and food. The little extra touches made it feel perfect, and with 20% off through the Butcombe app it was an absolute bargain. We’ll be back!

A pothole wrecked my wheel on a cold, wet, dark night, so this pub was a welcome place to stop. I hadn’t planned to come in, but the staff were amazing and both the pub and restaurant looked inviting. Sitting by the fire with an ice-cold beer while I waited for my lift couldn’t have been better. I’ll come back with the family and might try the rooms too.
