The price is what made the stay feel like such a good deal. At £215 a night, we got a spacious room with a comfortable bed, fast wifi and complimentary gin, plus dinner at Upper deck, afternoon tea with scones and a full English breakfast. The gym, spa and pool were included too. We’ve paid well over £1000 a night in London for a similar package. The food was really good, especially at Upper deck, which we liked enough to eat at twice and stay for a second night. Staff were well trained, helpful and great with concierge service. The harbor hotel felt like a very solid four star hotel. There were a few snags: the heating was off when we arrived, paint was flaking in the spa, and our breakfast card wasn’t collected, so room service breakfast never came. Those were minor given everything else and the value. I usually avoid five star reviews because there’s always room to improve, and this place certainly had a few things to fix. Still, for the price, service and comfort, I’d recommend it.

Raphael deserves a thank you for being so welcoming and taking real care with his work. He went out of his way to sort breakfast for a picky eater, which I really appreciated. The harbour is an easy stroll from the hotel, and after using the spa I had one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in ages. Some parts of the spa look a bit tired, though.

The biggest frustration came after the stay. The hotel offered me half off a future visit once the facilities reopen, but I’m not planning to return to the area. I also tried replying to the address they provided with my device and browser details, asking them to check that the website banner was visible. The email bounced as invalid. If I had wanted to use the offer, I’d have been left chasing them. I hadn’t made a fuss in person; I was just giving fair feedback so other people wouldn’t book expecting a spa break and be disappointed. They really need to improve their tech literacy. I’d chosen the hotel for its gym, pool and spa, booked directly on the website, and only learned at check-in that all the facilities were being refurbished and unavailable until March. The staff said there should have been a banner on the site. I checked on my phone and it wasn’t there, and they apologised. If those facilities matter to you, check with the hotel before booking. The staff were friendly, my room was clean and comfortable, dinner was good, and the location seemed pleasant and quiet. I arrived and left too early to see it in daylight, and checked out before breakfast, so I can’t comment on breakfast.

The gardens and harbour views were a lovely, relaxing part of my stay, and the staff were very professional. My room was beautiful, the food superb, and the spa was really good, though unfortunately the hydrotherapy pool was out of order while I was there. Amy gave me a facial and was friendly, kind and professional. I enjoyed my two nights at the harbour and SPA Christchurch hotel and would strongly recommend it. I’ll be back.

Parking is VERY limited at the hotel, and there isn’t another car park within a short walk. I don’t fancy trekking in wind and rain. Bar prices are about what you’d expect in a hotel, so I bring some Liquid Silk to make the resulting pounding less painful!!! Those downsides fade next to how good the day was. I was there as a Wedding Guest, not staying overnight, so I can’t speak to the rooms. The Entrance, Bar, Outside Deck, Restaurant area and Wedding room all looked good, and the location was excellent. The staff were what really made it a five star visit. Just before the wedding toasts, one very attentive member of staff quietly noticed I don’t drink booze and asked whether I’d like sparkling water or something else for the toast. It was thoughtful, without making a fuss or putting me on the spot. I’m fine explaining why I don’t drink, but others may not be. I didn’t catch the Dude’s name, but Thank You!!!
