The George Townhouse

We both had lovely steaks for dinner, cooked just right, and there was plenty of variety on the evening menu. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with a good choice of hot food. Our room was spacious, with a large bathroom, a standalone bath, luxury toiletries and a heated towel rail. One of the best places I’ve stayed, and very good value.

Breakfast was a joy thanks to Sharon, and Chiara the exec Manager was so kind and wonderful. Adam the supervisor made the stay feel welcoming and magical from the start. The whole team made it special. We came to town for a meeting and stayed three nights, but The George felt like home. Cozy, clean and welcoming, almost like being on the set of a holiday movie. It’s a fabulous treasure, and we’re grateful for the visit. We’ll be back.

We’ve been here a few times and liked it, but this visit left us disappointed. One dish wasn’t cooked properly, so we sent it back. The young lad serving us seemed hesitant to take it, and I had to explain that my wife wouldn’t eat it that way. When he returned with new wings, he said the chef explained they cook them that way because of the brown meat. I’ve cooked wings at home and eaten them elsewhere without them being raw. I wouldn’t order them here again.

The welcoming atmosphere and lovely staff made our group meal a pleasure. We’d pre-ordered for 11, and the food came quickly and looked stunning. They kept our drinks well attended to, and when we accidentally ordered a dessert, they took it back with no fuss. Highly recommend.
