We were made to feel so unwelcome that I won’t recommend the place or go back. It put a real damper on my friend’s birthday, and I was heavily pregnant at the time. We arrived at the bar around 2:15 on Saturday and ordered drinks and bar food. A woman came over soon after and rudely said we’d moved the tables and needed to move because the area was about to become a dance floor. We were perfectly happy to move, but we hadn’t touched the tables or chairs. At another table, we tried to push two small tables together, as other groups had done. She rushed over again and said we couldn’t because it would stop the bar staff clearing glasses. That was fine, but the rudeness just kept going. She then talked about our table to a male colleague, and we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. It quickly seemed that if you weren’t a regular, you weren’t wanted there, and she was annoyed we’d taken space their regulars use.

We never got to stay because booking.com had made an error, but the receptionist and manager went out of their way to help sort it out. While they were on to Booking.com, they offered us a meal and drinks for free as we waited. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist, who deserves a gold star. Amazing service, 10/10. Booking.com gets 0/10.
A lovely little gem, with a large, beautifully finished room, great amenities, an amazing bath and shower, and a comfortable bed. I slept really well. Breakfast and lunch were freshly cooked and very tasty, and the staff and service were amazing. It’s just off the motorway, with a short bus ride into Coventry, and the rates are very reasonable. Thanks to Donna and the team for a fantastic short stay. Highly recommended.
We travelled from Plymouth, Devon to see friends and family before Christmas, bringing our dog away with us for the first time. I booked through booking.com and specifically asked for a dog friendly room, since the hotel was advertised as allowing pets. I chose a “Deluxe” king room because the photos showed the recently modernised style we liked. At check-in, reception said we couldn’t have the room we’d booked because of the dog, and downgraded us to a standard double. After paying for three nights, we went up and found a tired, old room with a terrible smell and a toenail clipping on the floor. It wasn’t the room we’d booked or expected, and it was unclean, so I asked to check out straight away. Reception said they could only refund Friday and Saturday because the 24-hour notice period on booking.com had passed. That didn’t seem right when we hadn’t been given the room we booked, especially given the cleanliness. They said I’d need to speak with the manager the next day. After the long journey, I left close to tears with nowhere to stay with our pet. Management still refused to refund Thursday when we spoke the following day. They’ve since removed the “pet friendly” option from booking.com, so there was clearly a major mistake on the hotel’s part, but they wouldn’t take responsibility or acknowledge how poor the experience was. I won’t return, and I’ll tell friends and family in the area to avoid it. If you need a genuinely dog-friendly nearby hotel with all rooms welcoming dogs, clean, good-quality facilities, a great restaurant and bar, The Barn @ Berryfields is the place to go. The staff there are also helpful, friendly and competent.
The rooms are beautiful and quiet, with a great bathtub. Everything was clean, and both breakfast and the evening meal were excellent. For me, it’s the best hotel in Coventry.
