Premier Inn London Gatwick Airport A23

We stayed here twice. The first time, the staff were great; on the second visit, some of them looked like they didn’t want to be there. The rooms are clean and adequate, and it’s a handy base for the North Terminal, with a quick shuttle to the South Terminal. It can be busy at all hours because flights run around the clock, and there was some night noise, so it may not suit light sleepers. You also need to pick up tea and coffee supplies downstairs on your way up. I wasn’t happy to pay £25 for overnight parking on top of the room.

It was so convenient being able to walk to the North Terminal in about eight minutes, and the hotel was quiet, very clean, and had welcoming, accommodating staff. I paid an extra £15 for early check-in, and having those extra comfortable hours in the room was worth it. I forgot to take photos or videos, somehow, but the room was really spacious and comfortable, with a washroom of a good size and a bathtub. I was surprised by how much space there was.

For getting to the hotel from the airport, even on a dark, rainy night, head to the Hampton Inn in the North Terminal, walk past reception into the parking garage, and take the elevator down to ground level. Outside, follow the marked path to the roundabout. You’ll see Premier Inn across the road. It takes five to ten minutes at most. The rooms were clean, and the very deep tub was a nice surprise. Breakfast was very good too. It’s tempting to choose Hampton because you can stay indoors within the airport, but Premier is half the price and good value. The staff were friendly as well.

Handy for travel, with a nicely sized room. Dinner was what I expected, and the drinks menu had a good range at reasonable prices. Being told about the meal deal was especially useful. Breakfast was a real disappointment. We’ve usually enjoyed breakfast at Premier Inns, but the bacon was so dried out it was inedible and didn’t even smell like bacon. The sausages weren’t as good as they used to be, and the whole selection felt worse. On our way back from holiday, we stayed at another Premier Inn and chose to have breakfast outside the hotel because of this.
