Dinner was the standout for us. Both nights were fantastic: first the steak and ale pie with mash and plenty of gravy, then a huge, beautifully cooked lamb shank. I even told reception the food was five out of five. Breakfast was just as good, with ducks visible on the lake from the dining room. We stayed two nights, Friday and Saturday, at Damson Dene Hotel in Crossways in the Lake District on a wowcher package. It covered bed and breakfast and a dinner allowance each night, and felt like remarkable value. The room was on the small side but had what we needed and was comfortable after a day walking in the Lakes. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna when we got back from our walks. Everything was easy from arrival: lots of parking and a welcoming, helpful man at reception. The hotel has a cosy traditional feel, with a log fire in the lounge and a relaxed, homely atmosphere. Some guests were unwinding with their dogs, which added to that feeling. We couldn’t fault the food, staff or value, and would definitely come back.

The food was excellent, and breakfast was fresh and tasty in the restaurant overlooking the garden. It’s a peaceful spot about 10 minutes from Lake Windermere. The staff were consistently polite, professional and helpful, and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere made both us and our dog feel welcome. Our room was pleasant and clean. We’d highly recommend it and plan to return later this year. Well done, everyone 😊

We had a great weekend and couldn’t fault the hotel. There were plenty of dogs allowed, and the spa was open so we could use the steam room, sauna and hot tub. We booked an hour massage with Sharon, which was excellent and good value. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was really good.

We stayed in one of the cabins at the back, with its own little area and hot tub. It was lovely, and the place was really clean. They even grit the walkways in the morning if needed, which shows the thought and effort they put in. Dinner on our first night was amazing and better than I expected, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. I’d definitely like to come back.

The location was perfect and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. A cosy log fire in reception made the place feel inviting as soon as we arrived, and the bar has a nice atmosphere and plenty of space. We were pleasantly surprised by the option of having breakfast in bed, which made the stay feel extra special. The food was amazing. Highly recommend.
