Blackwell Grange

The evening meal and its service were good, but the rest of our wine and dine stay on 4 February was disappointing. Our room was very cold, and the heating didn't come on until 4pm. A cleaner brought us a plug-in radiator, which helped a little. Reception asked maintenance to check it, but they said it was fine. A cold radiator isn't fine. Lunch was poor too: the chicken salad baguette came with cold fries and just one piece of lettuce. Drink prices felt extortionate. There was also a wedding party staying, and children were driving a large electric car through public areas while people struggled to get out of the way. Nobody intervened, and that was a big no for me.

The pool is tiny, and there's nowhere to sit around it. A lot of visitors had no place to relax except outside, where it was cold and windy. There's a lot of building work going on outdoors, so I think the whole area will be better once that's finished.

The massages are the best. I've had two now, and both masseuses were amazing. Jessica was probably the best I've ever had. The spa is impressive and keeps getting better, though a clock outside and somewhere to hang towels by the hot tub would help. This little spa is a gem.

The food was good and fairly priced, and the hotel was clean and tidy. There are nice grounds with rabbits hopping around. The pool and gym are great, as are the hot tub and sauna, which are being extended.
