Green View Hotel

The bathroom was the last straw. It smelled damp and musty, looked unclean, and had a few small patches of fungus. The tiling was very badly done, with tile glue over the edges, apparently to waterproof earlier leaks. When I showered, the water barely drained, so I had to stop after 10 minutes to keep the shower from overflowing. I mentioned it to the morning receptionist, who just said, “yes that sometimes happen.” I didn't want to go back to the desk the night before, after already dealing with the booking mess. I left with all my things the next morning. I had booked 3rd till 4th of august for that same day, but got a reply saying my booking for 12th and 13th of October was accepted, with no refund possible. When I arrived, there was a big indian wedding on the ground floor, the restaurant was closed, the car park was full of badly parked cars, and loud music was playing. It was hard to find reception. The man checked my reservation and said moving it from October to that day wasn't an option, though I found out later he could have done that. He said I needed a refund from booking.com, even though I pointed out several times that the ticket said no refund was possible. He kept insisting there was no other possibility and that I had to make a new reservation for that day. I said I'd book again through booking.com, as I had before, but he insisted I pay cash or card there. I declined and tried booking.com again. After I picked an available room, double checked it and pressed pay, my screen said “room not available.” I was sure the man at the computer had caused that. I told him angrily to make sure the room was available. He checked, I went ahead with payment, and this time it worked. I got the key, annoyed, and went up to check the room before getting my things for the night. At first the bed and all its pillows looked nice, and the room seemed okay. I walked back through the wedding to get my belongings, then returned for a shower. In the morning, another man was at the desk. Back in the Netherlands, I contacted booking.com, and they explained the options available to the hotel. The hotel didn't use any of them. It felt like they just wanted to keep my money and hoped they wouldn't see me again.

I booked this for family who were visiting, and we were very happy with it. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with parking right in front of the small hotel. Our double aspect room for two had a king size bed and a single, plus a TV and small fridge. There was plenty of space for luggage, high ceilings, crisp white walls and fresh white bedding. It had been warmed up before we arrived, which made it cosy in winter. The hotel is attached to an Indian Restaurant, but there was no smell of spices in the rooms, in case that worries you. Staff were friendly, and check-in and check-out were flexible. We'll definitely stay here again.

The restaurant was delicious, the price was fair, and the rooms were clean and spacious. I was here for five nights to work with a colleague who lives nearby. The location is remote, but that didn't matter to me. The staff were fantastic, especially Nahid and Arman. I'll stay again when I'm back to work with my colleague. Thank you!

It was okay, but nothing special. The price felt a little higher than it should be, so I'm going back to the Travelodge.
