I've been coming here for work about every two or three months for more than ten years, and the service is always first rate. Jenna deserves a special mention: she goes out of her way for people, remembers her customers, and has served me lunch this time as well as breakfast on the early shift for years. She's always welcoming and friendly, and I can't praise her enough. Manager Ashley also helped me sort out a tech issue on this visit, so thanks to her. The location, cleanliness, service and delicious food make this my choice when I'm travelling in or around Derby.

The carvery was delicious, with well-cooked beef and vegetables, and we were glad to see roast parsnips on offer this time. The person carving the meat was excellent and gave us a generous portion. We chose to sit in the bar rather than the restaurant, since it's roomier and has a more informal feel. Bar and table service were both friendly and professional. We really can't fault The Lodge. It's the best carvery we've had in a long time.

We had a lovely evening for our friend Carol's 65th birthday. The young woman at the bar and our waitress, Tabitha, were both so lovely, and Tabitha was very attentive. It was really busy because of a 40% offer we hadn't known about. When she brought the bill, that turned into a pleasant surprise. I'd booked a table ahead, but it didn't seem to be ready when we arrived. They sorted that out quickly.

The kebabs are worth coming back for, especially with that amazing bread. The restaurant food was high quality, generously portioned and very good value. The rooms are spacious and have very good showers, but finding what was probably a used adult toy under the bed I was sleeping in was not okay. The car park layout also seemed odd, and I think getting around and in or out would be difficult if it were completely full.

We landed in Derby needing somewhere to stay at very short notice and were lucky to find this place. The team welcomed us warmly and looked after us. The clean, modern rooms were comfortable, and when we had to extend our stay we got to try the bar food, which was delicious. It was inexpensive as well. I only leave reviews when I find a little gem, and this qualifies. Thanks to Mary and the team!
