Running Horses

We hadn't booked, but the staff found us a table in this very busy pub. The service was first class, and the roast pork and Caesar salad were excellent. It's a very clean, tidy pub with great food and great staff. A1+. I didn't stay in the rooms, so I can't rate them.

I've meant to try this fairly local old pub for Sunday roast for ages, and finally got there. The food quality and service would have earned five stars, but the vegetable portions were pitiful: half a roast carrot, one skinny roast parsnip and a tablespoon of cabbage. Why do places skimp on vegetables when they're the cheapest thing on the plate?

We were welcomed warmly, enjoyed a relaxed drink by the fire, then were shown to our table. Everyone we met was polite, professional and in good spirits, and the food was amazing with service to match. It was a wonderful evening with good company. I can't praise it highly enough and look forward to coming back soon.

Friendly service and a good wine selection alongside an interesting, quality menu. The bar is lovely and the restaurant is large and comfortable. It's in a country setting, with outdoor seating and nice views.
