On 15 May 2026, we arrived for the two nights we’d booked through booking.com and found the property looking abandoned. The doors were locked, there were no notices explaining anything, the windows and outside were dirty, and there was no sign of activity. It looked closed, so we had to book somewhere else. The receptionist at the new hotel also said it was closed. We disputed the charges, and on 16 May 2026, the Queensberry refunded them in full through Booking.com. Thank you both.

We stopped by the Queensberry on a rainy trip to Dumfries, just by chance, for some pub food. Inside it was bright, beautiful, comfortable and very relaxed, and the service was friendly and welcoming. My partner had the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, and I ordered the Queensberry Special Burger with chicken fillets, haggis, peppercorn sauce and bacon. Both came with onion rings, slaw and chips. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with amazing value for money. The rest of the menu looked reasonably priced too, including a Full Scottish Breakfast for £8.50. Judging by the generous amount of good food we got for the price, the other dishes look promising. We left relaxed and very satisfied, and would definitely stop by again.

The bar was closed because of the current situation, but that didn’t matter to us. We were eight friends staying together, and all our rooms were immaculate, with comfortable beds and good showers. The manager was very helpful and available for anything we needed. I’ve stayed here before and will definitely return. The location is brilliant, just two minutes from the main square, with pubs, places to eat and shops nearby. There are also some beautiful walks close by, especially the riverside walk.

We stayed two nights and won’t be back. The bar was shut the whole time, and the room wasn’t what we expected. We stay in hotels a lot and expect clean rooms, but the towels were filthy. The toilet handle was hanging off, the door lock wasn’t secure, and the door had a chain on it. Shower tiles were falling off the walls, and the extractor fan was full of dust, which seemed like a fire hazard. All in all, avoid this place.

The food took a little while to come, but it was worth waiting for. We were made to feel so welcome, and the man serving us found a comfortable spot that worked for four adults, including someone using a wheelchair. I’m giving five stars for the service. The place could use some updating, and the disabled/baby-change toilet was okay, though a bit dark and dingy. Thanks again, we’ll be back.
