Holiday Inn Express Dunstable

The WiFi was excellent and never dropped out, which I really needed on this trip. Georgia was helpful with information about working from the hotel and made us feel welcome. We had a restful, pleasant stay while our house was having building work. The shower and washing facilities were in good condition, and not having to worry about petrol was a plus. If you need somewhere to stay, you can feel at ease here. 😀

The food was tasty and the portions were generous. Everything looked clean and the service was fine, but this isn’t a full service hotel. Rooms are all the same, so we couldn’t move to a larger one when we arrived and wanted more space. There’s no fridge, and toiletries are about the only amenities provided. A good fit if you’re after somewhere simple with no frills.

We had a cooked breakfast, and cereal was available too. The bathroom was spotless, with a huge walk-in shower that could fit two. The room was comfortable and excellent, with the nice touches of spotlights and a sofa. It’s a very smart hotel, and I’d definitely like to come back.

I came to see a young asylum seeker and was stopped at the door by a man in a hi viz jacket. I was told my visitor had to come down to reception to collect me, and then I had to sign in with my name, day and date, car registration, and arrival and departure times. I understand why security is needed, but the place felt unwelcoming, oppressive, and almost threatening. It’s sad that women and children are living here, though I recognize this is a necessity of society.
