The dinner menu was limited, and the food was only edible, really not good enough for the price. Parking is available on site, though my company covered it, so I don’t know the cost. On the good side, the staff were excellent from check-in to breakfast and the bar, and my room was huge with a lovely bathroom and two showers. I had a lovely four-night stay while working in Durham. The location is perfect for exploring the city, with the Cathedral just minutes away. I’d recommend it and would be glad to come back.

Breakfast was good, but the other food was very poor, so I’d eat out for those meals. The hotel works well as a place to stay in Durham: it’s well located, the rooms are fairly spacious and clean, and there’s parking for a fee. More like a good Premier Inn than a full-service hotel.

We stayed six nights, three of us sharing a spacious, clean and comfortable room with two double beds while helping our daughter move into her university apartment. The bed was a bit hard, but the modern, clean bathroom was generously sized and had great water pressure. The location was excellent, and the hotel felt cozy. Parking was handy and very reasonably priced, and the restaurant food was delicious. The bar’s happy hour was a welcome extra. Staff were courteous, helpful and accommodating, especially at the front desk. Great value for the money, highly recommend.

The rooms are dated and worn, and really need a refurbishment, but I’d still return. The hotel’s old building has plenty of historical character, with photos in reception that tell its story. Just be prepared for uneven, creaky floorboards if that bothers you. Its location makes Durham’s sights easy to visit, and it’s also close to the prison if you need to go there. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Being so close to town and its amenities was the best part, and we were lucky to get a lovely river view. The room was very nice, with a powerful shower. Front desk staff were courteous, professional and helpful, and parking was convenient and reasonably priced. Breakfast for two was only £18 when added to the room. The staff in the huge dining room were lovely. Breakfast was OK, with GF toast on request, though we didn’t ask about decaf proper coffee and none was obvious. Good value, highly recommended.
