The hotel is dated but clean, and the food was fine for the price. We went for Tinsel and Turkey, but the Christmas evening buffet was a disaster. Our meal slot was 6pm, yet we waited an hour to get into the dining area because other people apparently weren’t sticking to their times. That was unacceptable, especially with several older people in our group who had mobility difficulties. There were seats downstairs, and the manager apologised, but it was still disappointing. The last night’s entertainment was abysmal. The singer did hardly any modern songs, and what he did sing wasn’t upbeat dance music, so the dance floor stayed empty. We’d dressed up and made an effort, but he finished early. It might have been better if Christmas Day had been on Wednesday, so people wouldn’t have been worrying about getting up for 7am breakfast and leaving the next day.

I stopped at reception last Friday evening while helping look for a missing child reportedly seen nearby. I only asked whether anyone had noticed someone matching the description. It was a genuine plea for help in a serious situation, not a request for anything invasive. The man at the desk immediately questioned who I was and used “GDPR” as a reason not to engage. I wasn’t asking for guest information or personal data. I was hoping for basic decency and some sense of community responsibility. His cold, dismissive response was astonishing. With a vulnerable child involved, he chose to lecture me about policy instead of showing compassion or common sense. It’s a shame someone representing a local business acted so indifferently when a little humanity was called for.

The room was cold, with the heating only coming on twice a day for an hour. It’s the first hotel I’ve stayed in where the corridors were warmer than the room. I won’t be back.

A lovely single room, clean, with a nice shower room. It was busy, but still quiet. The hotel is right on the promenade, making it easy to walk, and it’s next to the pier and close to Terminus Road with all its restaurants. The location is brilliant, and it has parking, which is unusual in Eastbourne. A very attractive hotel.

We went on an ALFA travel holiday, which we always enjoy for meeting new people and the good excursions. The hotel is right on the seafront, opposite the pier. Our room was spacious, clean and had a sea view. Meals and service were excellent, and the entertainment was good. We’ll definitely return.
