The Cumberland Hotel

Ventana’s Thursday curry night was outstanding value, with plenty to choose from: Thai chicken, coconut rice, naan, poppadom, samosas and a glass of wine for less than £25 each. What’s not to like? We also enjoyed Sunday lunch there. It was tasty, well cooked and good value, with good service in a spacious restaurant. The roast was easy to enjoy, though it could have been a little hotter.

I was there for work a few weeks ago and had a very positive stay. My sea-facing room with a balcony was amazing and clean, and the staff were really helpful and accommodating. I enjoyed the curry special with a pint, and breakfast started nice and early. I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in town.

The buffet breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in a long time, and the staff were very friendly. Our double room had modern decor, a lovely bathroom and really comfy beds. We also had a delicious steak baguette and salad for lunch, and the drinks weren’t overpriced for a hotel. My husband and I just got back from a one-night stay at the Cumberland Hotel. All the Christmas decorations were up and made it feel really festive. It was warm inside too, which was much better than being cold. We couldn’t fault the stay and will definitely come back.

The staff are polite and helpful. They even helped me get back something I’d forgotten, which I really appreciated. The spa is a nice extra, and I’m looking forward to returning in summer. This was our second stay, and we’ve enjoyed coming here both times. The art deco furnishings are beautiful, and our room had a newly fitted modern bathroom that was clean and comfortable. We could hear people nearby at night, but it wasn’t as noisy as some Bournemouth hotels, so the stay was still very pleasant. The one snag was that we had to separate the beds ourselves to make them twin beds, even though we’d asked for twin bedding in advance.
