Tiger Inn - Grace

We came on foot from Birling Gap for lunch and what a find. The weather was perfect, admittedly, but the setting was wonderful, with rolling hills, a flagpole and roses around the cottage doorways. It all felt reassuringly English, and the pub was welcoming with excellent food. Hard to find anything not to like. Thank you.

The bacon and venison pie was amazing, and even the humble cabbage was rich with flavour. Everything was good. The Chef clearly takes food seriously. Come here and you won’t be disappointed.

I can only speak for the pub, which was a great stop after Seven Sisters. We booked online, and just a note that only the bar area allows dogs. There’s a good choice of beers and food, and plenty of outdoor tables in the lovely area in front. The Fish and chips was one of the best I’ve had in a while. The Ploughman Plate worked well as either a starter or main, and my friend was really impressed with the baked Camembert with chorizos.

We stayed and ate here on Good Friday and quickly fell in love with the place. The pub is really cosy, the food was tasty, and the rooms are comfortably furnished and well decorated. Breakfast was very good for an Inn, with a great spread of yogurts, fruit and pastries as well as hot dishes cooked to order. I’m not sure why its average rating isn’t higher. We’ll definitely visit again when we’re in the area.
