West Rocks Townhouse

The owner gave me a £40 partial refund when I left, but I was still gutted to go home early. I'd hoped for a comfortable stay after seeing the good reviews, and ended up feeling like I couldn't breathe because of the strong dog smell. The room smelled really bad of dogs, and I couldn't put my feet on the carpet because of the dog hair. I told the man on the evening reception shift. He kindly came and vacuumed, but the hoover made the smell worse and still didn't pick up the hairs. Being dog friendly is great, but the place needs a decent hoover that's cleaned regularly. Maybe keep two rooms for guests without animals. There's no excuse for the smell and hairs. People bringing pets might not mind the animal smell, but those of us looking for a clean, comfortable stay should look somewhere that doesn't allow pets. The pool table was tilted, so the balls went into the same holes, and the felt was so bobbly it was ready for the bin. I wouldn't stay here again. I hope this is taken constructively.

The sea view was amazing, even in February. Chris was super friendly and helpful. I stayed for my birthday and had a great time. Looking forward to coming back in summer :)

Lovely Victorian hotel, clean and smart, with great sea views from the bar and balcony. The staff couldn't do enough for you, and there's a great bowl of sweets at reception!

There was no AC in the rooms, and the website didn't mention it. The windows only opened a crack, and the very cheap fan they gave us barely cooled the room. It was so hot. They also hadn't cleaned properly after previous guests with pets. My friend woke with puffy eyes and couldn't breathe well at all. You could hear how congested she was. We canceled our second night because of these problems, but they refused to refund it. We moved to another pet friendly hotel up the street, where she was completely fine because the rooms were properly cleaned. We wouldn't recommend this place. Awful service!!!
