Delta Hotels Edinburgh

James gave me a warm welcome, and the room was clean and inviting. Breakfast was lovely, especially the buffet fried eggs with runny yolks, which you don’t often get. I also had a really nice chat with Maria. I was there for the Scotland vs France Six Nations game, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. I’ll most likely be back soon.

Maria made breakfast a highlight each day, with a generous, delicious spread and kind advice about places to visit and the weather. Thanks as well to Luke for serving us, and to James at reception, who was always cheerful and dealt with our questions quickly. We had a warm welcome and started with coffee in the comfortable café bar before heading to Princes St. The hotel is being updated, but it felt clean, bright and spacious, especially the restaurant. Our beds were comfortable, and the blackout curtains worked brilliantly for lie-ins. We spent five days in Edinburgh and used the buses from just outside every day. They run roughly every ten minutes, and the city centre is about 20 minutes away.

The room was spacious, spotless and a pleasure to stay in, and the food was excellent with lots of choices. We also liked having an ice machine on our floor and a water machine downstairs. After reading some earlier reviews, we’d expected to be disappointed, so I even had to check them again. We found the hotel excellent and are looking forward to visiting again.

Breakfast was a bright spot: lots of choice, a spacious room that never felt crowded even during the holidays, and staff who were superb and lovely with our dog. There’s also a large, pleasant green area for dogs. Still, the usual Delta protocol for dog guests wasn’t followed. Our rooms were okay, but I’m not confident they were cleaned properly; there was a particular smell in the toilet, and one towel was so old it was torn. The room phone didn’t work, so we had to go to the lobby for concierge help. We’ve enjoyed other hotels in this chain, which made this stay at this Delta especially disappointing. On top of everything, a service desk error led to an overcharge. After several escalations, we had to work with the main desk twice to reverse the transaction. The hotel has a lot of potential, but the details need more care.
