The place wouldn't respond to my complaints. The door barely shut, the window wouldn't open, and the AC didn't seem to work since there were no vents for the controls. The heater stayed on full blast even when I tried to turn it off. The shower leaked and dripped all night, and loud bangs from other people leaving their apartments kept waking me up.

There wasn't anyone on site to help or even get us fresh sheets. The sheets smelled so bad that I slept on my own towel, and the kitchen was just as dirty and dark as the room, with no window. The shower leaked all night and had black mold everywhere. The room stank when we first walked in. Its broken window couldn't be opened, and there was no AC on a very hot day. The place seemed neglected, with dirty carpets, stained walls, moldy tiles and old, damaged furniture. There was no sound insulation, so we heard everything from the hall and other rooms, especially through the big gap under the door. Of the seven hotels we stayed in during our Scotland trip, this was the most expensive and easily the worst. It was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The stay spoiled the end of a trip that was a gift for my husband for our anniversary.

The suite was small but had everything we needed, and Haymarket train station is nearby, so getting to the centre was easy.

The room was dirty, the Wi-Fi weak, and it really wasn't worth the money. The daycare next door was noisy too. There’s no elevator, so we had to climb all the way to the top floor. Check-in was unpleasant: we never got an email or clear instructions, and had to press the button twice just to get the main door and room codes.

It's in a great location, but the place feels very tired. I might have overlooked that if the bedding hadn't smelled. The furniture is scuffed and worn, and the windows are dirty. That's why I'm giving it 2 stars, nearly 1.
