We had breakfast and dinner included, and the food was amazing. The hotel's interior decor is really cool, and the room was comfortable and very clean. It's right in the city centre, close to lots of transport options. The staff were amazing too, friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. Great hotel.

After such a long journey, what we needed was a little grace. We'd flown a long way, with a transit, and spent our hard-earned money, keeping the currency exchange in mind. My parents deserved a better stay, and we were horribly disappointed. We checked in on the evening of Jan 9th and had booked a scenic view. At reception, a blonde, curly-ish-haired receptionist greeted us with a horrible attitude, as if she didn't want to be working there. We raised the issue of the view and her response put us off asking her for anything else. We accepted a room facing a brick wall. The issue wasn't only her manner. If she'd explained there were no rooms available, or said we might be able to move to a better view later, we would've understood and still been fine with the poor view. My family doesn't like upsetting people, but after that interaction we didn't feel comfortable confiding in any of the staff for the rest of our long stay. That wasn't what we hoped for after travelling so far from home. I've worked in customer service myself and understand long shifts and feeling overstimulated. I hope you're healing from whatever you're dealing with, but your attitude really put us off.

We started out hugely impressed. The service was outstanding, and a friendly receptionist welcomed us. Room 204 was lovely, with a view of the castle over Princes Street, and the bed was very comfortable. It's a lovely hotel inside and I'd stay again because the location is so handy, despite the problems. Noise was the biggest issue. Doors slammed loudly enough to keep waking us, and toilets flushing, taps running and showers sounded as if they were coming through the walls. We also found empty shower bottles apart from the shampoo. The main lights and lamp didn't work, only the bedside lights, so we had to get ready with the curtains wide open when people outside might have seen into the room. I asked whether I could pay extra to check out at midday because our flight wasn't until 9.30pm. The receptionist with long dark, possibly curly hair was unhelpful and, frankly, rude, saying late checkout wasn't offered. That didn't match my family member's experience at the same hotel just two weeks earlier; they're not a member either. We stayed three nights, and those issues took my rating from five stars to three. Thank you.

The room felt cluttered and was too warm for me. The window didn't open far enough to cool it down. I also hadn't realized beforehand that there were unavoidable stairs after the lift. They offered to carry my bags, but that would still have made noise, and I didn't want to disturb other guests when I left at 4am. It may be fine for plenty of people, just wasn't right for me.
