The only awkward moments came from one person on the night reception team. We asked if the bar was still open and got, “I work on reception, I don’t know.” A quick check or update would have helped, since it’s all one venue. Another night we said hello on the way back and got no reply, which felt strange in such a sociable place. Aside from that, the stay was really enjoyable. We had a private twin room that was clean, comfortable, and gave us plenty of privacy, and it was great value. The shared toilets and showers were plentiful and kept clean, with hot water that came through right away and stayed reliable. Most staff were welcoming and inclusive, and the hostel has a nice social feel. The facilities, location, cleanliness, and price were all strong, and I’d happily stay again in Edinburgh.

There’s a lovely view of the Castle, and you’re close to the town centre with buses, trams, pubs, and plenty of restaurants nearby. I didn’t eat at the place. The room was on the small side but tidy. The beds were clean and really comfortable, and there was a locker by each bedside that fit a 10kg bag or backpack. The toilet was a good size, and the shower and toiletries had what I needed. Fair enough for the price.

The views are hard to beat, and the location puts you right in the middle of everything. I really liked the social atmosphere and the modern facilities. The place also felt organised and professional, while still being a great spot to meet people. Everything was kept so clean, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. A lovely stay from beginning to end, definitely one of the best hostel visits I’ve had.

It was pretty clean, and at least body wash was provided. But the shower kept flipping from freezing to scalding about every 30 seconds. I also had a top bunk right in front of a very bright emergency exit sign, which made sleeping really difficult. Typical hostel problems otherwise.

We had a great stay, with lots of social events and a spot right in the heart of Edinburgh, so everything was walkable. There were plenty of bathrooms and they were all well maintained. I only wish the beds had curtains for a bit more privacy while sleeping.
