We found plenty to do around Bruntsfield Place, and Bruntsfield Links is only a short walk away. The street itself was peaceful, though. Our room felt cozy and home-like, and the service was friendly and excellent. A lovely stay, definitely five stars.

There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room, along with a kettle. The place was small and quiet, but it didn't feel like good value when we had to share a bathroom. The shower room is tiny, and you step straight out of the shower cabin onto the stair landing. That felt really strange and uncomfortable for the first couple of days. The stairs are very steep too, so getting a medium or large suitcase up them wouldn't be easy.

We spent two nights in a small family room. It was a cute, quiet, affordable place, and the basics were functional, but there were some drawbacks. The beds and pillows were very poor quality and creaked a lot. The pillows were so thin they felt like laptop cases. Since the separate bathroom is outside the bedroom, I think booking a private one is worthwhile. We had one key for three people, which was awkward because it opened both the bedroom and bathroom, and someone could get stuck in the hall. When we arrived, we couldn't reach the owners until we borrowed a UK phone to confirm check-in. There were no toiletries, extra towels, or fresh bedding.

We got there before the usual 2 o'clock check-in, and the kind hosts managed to accommodate us. The guest house is lovely and cozy, with pretty, quaint rooms that were very clean and had tea and coffee facilities. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to the main area, which felt a bit far, but the bus stop just around the corner worked well for us. I'd happily stay again.

We were in a quiet neighbourhood that felt quite safe, with lots of cafés, places to eat, and supermarkets nearby. The guest house was lovely, and our top-floor room had a nice view and was a good size for two. There was free WiFi in the room and just outside the front door, and the manager was helpful with everything we needed. It's around a 20-minute walk to Edinburgh centre, or less than five minutes to the nearest bus stop. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to Edinburgh.
