The room was quiet, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was tasty with plenty to choose from. Housekeeping was generally good, though a few things could have been better. The shower slider was damaged, and even on its coolest setting the water felt a little too warm. The hotel is very conveniently placed in the city centre, close to the main attractions, shops, and railway station.

The room was lovely and clean, and I really enjoyed the view from it. At breakfast this morning, the restaurant staff were so attentive. I'll definitely come back!

We were there for almost a week in December 2025 and, given the substantial price, expected to be able to enjoy our trip without having to sort out basic hotel problems ourselves. Instead, the service was frustrating and inefficient, and I wouldn't recommend this place to travellers looking for comfort and convenience. There's no phone in the room, so asking for housekeeping, rubbish collection, or maintenance means going down to reception in person. We had to make those requests each day or nothing was done. When something needed fixing in our room, the first attempt didn't work and we had to make several trips to reception. The TV says staff are available 24/7, but there's no practical way to reach them from the room. Even a small request means going downstairs. The internet was poor, and we were asked to pay extra for a usable connection, which added to the feeling that extra charges mattered more than guests' comfort. The carpet was visibly worn too, giving the place a dated feel. For this price, the stay didn't meet reasonable expectations.

Everything is within easy walking distance from this city-centre spot, and breakfast had a good selection. Our room was clean and a decent size. The one thing that let it down was black mould on the silicone around the shower, which needed a proper clean. I'd still recommend the hotel for a visit to Edinburgh.
