The room was clean, and the bathroom was well kept with toiletries. Still, I couldn't recommend it. Hot water pipes running through room 4 made it boiling. The window barely opened and wouldn't stay open, the floor was crooked, and the tiny double bed was really small. The TV was ancient, and the room's “artwork” was awful, just old faded pictures slipping out of their frames.

The location was fantastic, about 2 miles from Edinburgh Castle and an easy walk into town. The area felt safe, with shops and restaurants nearby. We found the clean, nicely decorated rooms welcoming, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Even though our basement room only looked onto the staff apartment, it still got enough light. The TV didn't work and the internet cut out now and then, which was inconvenient. Maybe those were temporary problems. Despite them, it was a comfortable, pleasant stay and a solid Edinburgh option.

I left a pair of running shoes in my room after staying on the 24th and 25th of October. I've tried several times to reach the hotel by phone and email, but no one has replied. I still hope to get my things back, though the lack of response after checkout has been very disappointing. It's a shame, since the stay itself was nice.

It's a great spot, with lots of bus routes into the city centre nearby. The rooms need upgrades, though. Our so-called “Deluxe” two-person room had an incredibly small bed. There was a modern bathroom, but no proper curtain on the room's only window, so we woke at dawn.

We only needed somewhere to sleep for one night after travelling up for the Robbie Williams concert, and this was perfect. The room was meticulously clean, with what seemed like brand new furniture and very clean, thick pile carpet. Getting in was easy: the instructions were straightforward, and we just collected the key from the lockbox and let ourselves into the building and room. The hotel was quiet; we only saw one other couple. It's clean and ideally placed, with a bus stop across the road. Parking is limited, but we managed to get one of the two spaces at the front, which was very handy. We didn't need staff or breakfast, just a place for a quick overnighter.
