Weather-related flight delays meant we needed a room for two extra nights. The Scotsman sorted it out, returned us to the room we’d loved and left Prosecco with a lovely note. We’d first booked a director’s room for one night, and it was fantastic: large, with great views and surprisingly quiet for a spot right in the town centre near the train station. The staff were extremely professional and helpful. We had dinner at the Grand Cafe, which was excellent. The hotel’s historic character, comfortable beds and all the thoughtful appointments made the stay special. So many attractions were within walking distance, and we’d certainly return to Edinburgh.

The team made our anniversary feel special, and a particular thank you to Greg for his kindness and attentiveness. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout. The Scotsman Hotel was exactly what we hoped for, a wonderful stay from beginning to end. The building is beautiful, with its historic character carefully preserved. Its past as the home of The Scotsman newspaper adds a special charm, and staying in such a distinctive place is a unique experience. It’s right in the heart of the city, an easy walk from the Royal Mile, Princes Street and many of Edinburgh’s main sights. We’d gladly recommend the hotel and truly hope to return.

Take the lift down to ground level and you’re just a hop and a skip from the railway station. A shortcut through the station gets you to the escalator for Princes Street. The hotel is beautiful, with spacious, well-furnished rooms, and our room was freshly serviced with towels changed daily. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast stood out for its attention to detail, friendly team, table service and wide menu. We couldn’t fault it.

We’ve just come back from a lovely birthday weekend, and I’ll definitely return. The chocolates and card waiting in the room were a really nice touch. The Grand Café is a beautiful setting for dinner and brunch, which I’d highly recommend. Our room was bright, welcoming, spacious and well equipped, with a huge, comfortable bed. The hotel was clean, perfectly located, and all the staff were friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

Nathan, our events coordinator, deserves a huge shout-out. He pulled out all the stops, was helpful throughout, quick to respond, reassuring, and never made anything feel like too much trouble. Thanks to him, everything ran smoothly on the day, and we felt looked after enough to enjoy every moment. We had our wedding breakfast and reception at The Scotsman Hotel, and couldn’t have asked for a better venue. From beginning to end, every staff member we met was attentive, professional and genuinely friendly. So many of our guests commented on how amazing the team were. The food was incredible, beautifully presented and delicious, and it was served seamlessly. It made the day feel extra special. The hotel and its whole team played a big part in making our wedding day perfect, and we’re so grateful 🤍
