The Scott

There’s a bus stop right outside, and the ride to the city centre takes only 10 minutes. It’s about a 25-minute walk as well. The hotel is beautiful and elegant, with friendly, excellent service from everyone. The rooms and bar are cosy, and there’s a lovely dining room and coffee seating area. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with excellent service again.

This hotel has a distinctive character, and I loved staying here during my Edinburgh holiday. It’s a historic place, and the staff shared some stories about it. The atmosphere was fantastic, my room was very clean, and I’d highly recommend it. It was definitely worth what I paid.

We’ll absolutely stay at the Scott next time we’re in Edinburgh. Across the street, the Salisbury was amazing for dinner, and Voujon Indian restaurant around the block was transcendent. The hotel itself is beautiful, inside and out, and every part of staying there was a delight. Its location also gives you a reasonable 20-30 minute walk to Edinburgh’s tourist sights and the eastern hiking trails.

The location is nice, but there was nothing on offer for relaxing and enjoying the evening. The restaurant closes at 8:30 pm, and the hotel bar doesn’t serve desserts or snacks. When we wanted something sweet, they actually sent us down the road to the restaurant next door, a five-minute walk away. That was very disappointing. I expect something quite different from a luxury boutique hotel.
