For a non-peak price, it was a good stay, though I’d skip the food at the property. The Deluxe Room is fairly big and well designed, with handy full-room light controls, a wireless Qi charger and plenty of power outlets. I’d heard complaints that the toilet was small, but it seemed average-sized to me. I expected it might be bigger given the room, though it wasn’t hard to use. Housekeeping came twice daily and kept everything spotless, which I appreciated, but they stopped replenishing milk, tea and coffee after day two. The room had some amenities, though requests could be handled a bit messily: they supplied a shaving kit when I asked, but it had no shaving cream and the blade was poor quality. I also asked for a toothpick in the lobby, but they didn’t have one. Service was otherwise good, with polite staff who seemed willing to help. I appreciated the welcome drink and hot towel at check-in. The food was generally poor. I left the breakfast card outside my room well before the cutoff, but they didn’t act on it until I messaged the next morning. Two Scottish breakfasts came to about GBP70 in total, and the portions were tiny. The pastries were apparently offered as an apology and aren’t usually part of a standard Scottish breakfast. At SUSHISAMBA, the dinner tasting menu had some nice, creative dishes, but service took over two hours, mostly spent waiting, and some dishes were so burnt they were nearly inedible. I didn’t let the food affect my score too much since it was optional.

At check-in, Isabel noticed my birthday was the following day and pulled out all the stops to make it special. All the staff were courteous and went out of their way to make our stay memorable, and the rooms were very comfortable with lots of luxurious touches. Service from arrival through the end of our visit was exceptional. An unforgettable stay at W Edinburgh. Well done, everyone!

The restaurant attached to the hotel was fabulous, with elegant Japanese dishes and fusion options. The food was spectacular, especially the bright, delicious and vibrant ceviche. I’d absolutely stay again next time I’m passing through Edinburgh. My family member and I were looked after as soon as we arrived at W Edinburgh, and our luggage was quickly taken from our hands. The front desk woman from Spain was very nice, as was our attendant, who I believe was called Paulo. The comfortable room had different lighting modes, complimentary water, and a full selection of snacks and spirits for purchase. The bar had modern cocktails, plenty of dishes and small bites, plus complimentary savory snacks. Service there could be better, though, as it took a while to get staff’s attention when we wanted to order more drinks. It delivered the five-star experience I’d expect.

As a woman who travels alone for work, I’d highly recommend this hotel for its location, service, rooms, safety and food. I’ve stayed in plenty of places over the years, and this one is firmly among my top hotels. I’m pregnant and had mentioned it in my booking notes. When I arrived, Isabel already knew about the notes, and the manager came out to welcome me and offer any help during this special time. They upgraded me to a beautiful room with a stunning standalone bath. Every staff member I met was polite and courteous, and I was particularly touched by Isabel and Kijean, who made me feel special and looked after. The modern build shows care in the smaller details, and the room had all the extra amenities I might need: a minibar, fridge, robes, slippers and toiletries. There’s a huge movie selection on the TV, with a sound bar for a more cinematic feel if you want a chilled-out stay. Breakfast was unreal, with a great menu selection and lovely views from Sushi Samba. Thank you both for exceeding my expectations!
