Westville Hotel

We visited the Westville restaurant at 5.30 yesterday with elderly relatives, and it was just what we needed. It was warm, cosy and nicely decorated, and the staff were patient while we worked through the menu. We ordered starters only and were delighted by how large they were. I especially liked the variety of greens on each plate. That left room for dessert, and the brownies were a treat: three freshly made pieces on each plate, with a big scoop of creamy ice cream, honeycomb and small pieces of white marshmallow. The noise level was great at that time, and it suited us so well. We’re planning to return. Thank you to the Westville.

The Christmas decorations gave us a beautiful winter wonderland impression as soon as we arrived. Breakfast and the restaurant were excellent, and the staff lovely. The room let the stay down, though. The tissue box holder was empty, and when I asked reception, it needed replacing. The bedside lamp didn’t work because its wires weren’t connected to the plug. Housekeeping was poor overall. Our room was serviced on Friday afternoon, but the bins weren’t emptied, small milk portions weren’t replenished, and no extra toilet roll was left. We ended up using the pocket tissues we’d brought with us this morning. 🫤

A great find, with lovely staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was fantastic too. The hotel is a short walk from the town centre, and I’d certainly stay again next time I’m in town.

We’ve just had our wedding here, and we couldn’t be happier. The staff were fantastic, from the bar team to the night porter and everyone in between. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they made it the best day of our lives. Sophie is an absolute gem who made all the wedding planning feel effortless. Theo and Jacob in the bar were great craic and so helpful. And a big shout-out to the night porter Paul, who really topped off the night. We’ll definitely be regular visitors to the Westville.
