Premier Inn Epsom Central

Free parking was a nice bonus, and the location, a few hundred metres from the town centre, was ideal. The rooms are simply furnished but had everything we needed for one night. We asked for extra pillows and they brought them. Everyone we met provided helpful, polite, efficient service.

For the price it was OK, and I’d come back. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely presented, with a good refit since my last visit. It was very hot at night, but there was a fan, so it wasn’t too bad. Breakfast was OK at £10.99 per person for unlimited servings, although the coffee machine was playing up, which was disappointing. I got there at 14.30 for the 15.00 check-in, but the room wasn’t ready unless I paid £15 for early arrival, so I waited in the carpark for 30 minutes. The kettle had bits of limescale inside, so I couldn’t use it.

The room was clean, spacious, and accommodating, and the family room came with an extra single bed. The TV worked well and the air lighting was good. It was noisy at night, though, with people talking outside our room, which was annoying with a little one. The hotel is well placed for Chessington World of Adventures, an easy drive away. There’s also an M&S food section at the petrol station across the road, easy transport links, and a pleasant walk into town and to the train station. Check-in took a long time and felt unnecessary. The young woman wasn’t very welcoming or friendly and explained hardly anything beyond saying breakfast was across the way. It was easy enough to find the room, and we were told to enter our car details for parking. Breakfast wasn’t great. It’s good that kids eat free, but the food wasn’t well stocked: there were no pastries, only a few cupcakes left, and the bacon wasn’t very cooked. I had to ask where the milk alternatives for my daughter were. She showed me the milk, but didn’t help with her dietary needs. That wasn’t the usual experience for a Premier Inn, as I said.

After a mix-up with the room, the staff couldn’t have done more to help. The hotel was clean and in a fab location, within walking distance of Epsom, which is a beautiful town. Great hotel.
