The staff made us feel so welcome and fussed over our dog, which she absolutely loved. The food was outstanding: we both had pie, a proper hearty British classic, then shared the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had. The place is a wonderfully quirky, historic building full of character, in a perfect location. My partner, our dog and I were on a short holiday and booked dinner here. We're so glad we did, and would happily come back. Thank you, Tom.

We were only walk-ins at the last minute, but they fitted us in and even found us a better table without us asking. The staff were outstanding and so nice. What an atmosphere, with two lovely fires, and absolutely delightful food. We stayed overnight in the quirky master's bedroom, with tea and coffee provided, and had a heavenly breakfast the next day. They host folk music shows in the barn, but book ahead: it was sold out when we arrived, even on a Wednesday. Best pub!

A charming old pub with loads of character, and I bet the atmosphere is great when a folk group is playing. It was perfect for a birthday lunch, with an excellent range of beer and cider on tap. People have said it before, but order one of the pies and you won't be disappointed 😉

The pub has a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. It was packed, so make a reservation, but they stayed unflappable and the wait was well worth it. The Sunday roasts, pork and beef, were fantastic, with quite possibly the best gravy I've ever had. The apple crumble was a thing of beauty too.

The beef and ale pie really hit the spot on a cold day, and the staff taking orders and working behind the bar were very friendly. We’d booked ahead for a late Thursday lunch and the pub was busier than other places we’ve visited on a Thursday, so booking seems a good idea. We sat by the fire, which was lovely. Dogs are welcome, though it’s a problem when they aren’t kept under control and jump all over you. We’ll be back.
