Leonardo Hotel Exeter

The room had a fresh, modern look, and the hotel is well placed. There’s a large car park right opposite, with a discounted rate if you get your ticket validated at reception. Staff were friendly and kept my bags while I went out to explore. I did spot dirt on the sheets and a hair in one of the beds, which was disappointing. There’s a bar, restaurant and breakfast for an extra charge, though I didn’t try any of them, so can’t comment. There are food options nearby. I’d stay again, even with the cleanliness issue.

The location is handy for town, and the car park is just a short walk away. I slept really well in the comfortable bed, and the room was clean and pleasant. The restaurant staff were so helpful, and both the food and breakfast were really good, with lots of choice at breakfast. Everyone was friendly when I arrived too. I’d recommend staying here and would come back.

The staff seemed friendly enough, and getting checked in online was easy. It’s a clean, modern-looking hotel, but our room felt very small and the bed wasn’t as comfortable as the marketing made it sound. The restaurant prices were eye-wateringly high: £6.50 for a 440ml can of Guinness and nearly £20 for a very small Caesar Salad, with chicken charged extra. We don’t think we’ll return.

The staff were all lovely, and they changed our room without any trouble. That was a relief after I found blood stains beside the bed, and on the curtains and low down on the wall. At first glance the room looked tidy and clean, but those stains are unacceptable. Cleanliness is a priority, so it was a massive shame. The hotel itself was generally fine, though the area was very busy, as you’d expect in the city centre.
