Premier Inn Exeter Central St Davids

After a long day travelling, I missed the last train home and decided to check in. The first room had noisy occupants above, so I spoke to the staff and they were very accommodating about moving me to somewhere quieter. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. Great value for money, and an amazing location.

I’ve stayed here several times since October, and after each stay I got bites all over my body. When I called, the hotel said they had no bed bugs. It happened again during my January stay, so I rang once more. This time I was told they knew about the issue and had confirmed bedbug cases in first-floor rooms that were being kept shut. I was told I might be compensated for my stays. A few days later, my partner, who lives with me, started getting bites at home too. I had to pay over £200 to have my home treated. I sent Premier Inn the invoice, inspection report, photos of the bites and text evidence of my calls to the hotel. They then denied there was an issue and refused compensation, despite what I’d been told by staff at the desk. The customer service has been horrendous, and I’m left concerned about the hygiene and cleaning. The place is absolutely riddled with bugs. Do not stay here.

My room was faultless, and check-in using the self-service screens was quick and easy. The location was perfect for catching an early train without stress the next morning. I’m taking off a star because I’m not keen on ground-floor rooms. A busy path ran right outside my window, so I didn’t feel I could open the curtain at any point. Otherwise, it was a great experience.

Right next to the train station, yet very quiet. We were staying a few nights, so paying a little extra for a Premier Plus room was well worth it. It had a coffee machine, fridge and a super shower. Best one yet.
