The main reason to stay here during graduation week is the location, right by the ceremony in the student halls, and the price is quite a bit lower than other Exeter accommodation. At £100, though, it still felt like about twice what the place was worth. The noise was relentless: people talking loudly outside rooms at all hours, hundreds of seagulls, and doors banging along the corridors. It was very hot when we stayed, but the windows only open a little for health and safety reasons. The bathroom had no shelves for toiletries, the WiFi didn't work at all, and there was an old half-eaten chicken sandwich in the small fridge. Breakfast was disappointing too. The cereals weren't branded, the orange juice was very watered down, and one of the two coffee machines was broken, leaving a big queue for the one that worked.

The views are excellent and the staff are friendly, with a tasty breakfast too. It's a very convenient spot and the room was spotless, though the bed felt much too soft and a bit small for two. There's plenty of walking up and down hills, and the car park can fill up, so get there early.

If you're staying on campus and can put up with doors slamming through the night, it's fine. My room was okay, just a little musty, and likely cheaper than anywhere else this time of year. The staff were polite and breakfast was nice. I was there for a conference in August. With a sore foot, the long walk from the car park and into town wasn't practical. Campus food options were fine at lunchtime over the weekend, but there was nothing at all on Friday evening, and only one bar open on Saturday. The people working in that bar were amazing and efficient. The doors are the biggest problem. They bang loudly at night, including the bathroom doors, and there's no soundproofing. Soft tape around them and soft-close hinges could make a huge difference. I was glad I'd brought earplugs.

The room rates and breakfast were good. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and light came in around the sides of the curtains. The bathroom and shower were tiny, and the curtain stuck to me while I was showering. Water flooded the bathroom anyway, so I had to step in it afterwards.

The view at breakfast was wow, and the self-serve spread was lovely: cereal, fresh fruit, cooked food, pastries, yoghurt and toast. The room was very clean and had a little fridge and a safe. A proper chair would've been nicer than a computer chair, but I understand it's student accommodation. Reception also had extra tea, coffee and milk available.
