About this property

Welcome to BEST WESTERN Penmere Manor Hotel where we hope you'll enjoy your stay and, like so many of our guests, return again and again! Set amidst five acres of beautiful surroundings this Georgian house has been elegantly maintained and has established reputation as a fun, family run hotel for over 36 years. Situated on the outskirts of the busy port and town of Falmouth, the tranquil gardens and hotel grounds here offer guests an oasis of calm and a sense of grandeur that only exists in hotels of a bygone era. Our staff pride themselves on their personal knowledge of the area (they can tell you all about the Roman town of Caerleon ten miles away, the Wye Valley 15 miles away or Raglan Castle 13 miles away) and natural rapport with all who stop by. Whether you're staying for a night or a fortnight, nothing is too much trouble here in Falmouth! Enjoy your stay.

The staff were the one real bright spot at Penmere Hotel. They were friendly, professional and approachable, and handled things well. We appreciate receiving a full refund, but it can't give us back the time and special occasion we lost, especially when work and children already make time precious. The noise was the biggest problem. In the first room we could hear every movement upstairs, toilets flushing and cisterns refilling. It kept us up past 2am and woke us at 6am. Staff kindly moved us at midnight, but the next room had the same loud plumbing noise from the room next door. That kind of structural problem isn't solved by moving guests in the middle of the night. The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable, but the hotel is very dated. There was no socket by the bed, and the cups were tiny rather than standard mugs. Outside the patio doors, a broken gutter dripped constantly beside a large pile of cigarette butts, and the patio was dirty and overgrown with weeds. Walking from the garden rooms to reception and the bar, there was a strong damp smell. We also tried the leisure facilities. The sauna didn't seem well maintained: the wood above the coals was blackened and brittle, and the lower door frame looked like it was rotting. Breakfast was mediocre, with low-quality ingredients that didn't feel suitable for a hotel stay. This isn't a complaint about the staff. The problems seem to come down to maintenance and investment, and the clean, fresh image on the hotel's website didn't match what we experienced. We raised our concerns privately first out of respect, but future guests should know about the condition and noise before booking.

A storm knocked out our power at home, so we stayed at the hotel for a night. The room was really comfortable, though the heating seemed to be off. I'm not sure if that was related, but we were given two heaters. Breakfast was fine, and we enjoyed the pool. The staff were very nice throughout, and honestly, it was great value.

We had a comfortable, quiet room, even with two functions taking place during our two-night stay at the Penmere Manor Hotel. The food was delicious, and the reception and restaurant staff were great. We enjoyed making good use of the pool facilities too. It's not the most modern hotel, but it's family run, well managed and excellent value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend it and will definitely return.

The room was lovely and spacious, and the location was nice. The pool was very nice, and the sauna perfectly adequate. The gym equipment was limited and a little past its best, but the gym wasn't very busy, so we never had to wait. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I'd have liked tea and coffee to be available at breakfast without asking, and when I did ask, instant coffee was served. I'm admittedly a bit fussy about coffee.
