OYO Gran Canaria Hotel

The manager was a real pleasure, extremely friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean, and the beds were a delight. Best night’s sleep I’ve ever had. We stayed here to visit the mythical town of Folkestone. Thank you for being part of your wonderful hotel!

Free parking, and it’s near the beach and some lovely places to eat and drink. But the room was very small, and the bed was hard and unforgiving. The pillow was maybe 3 inches thick, and I’m being kind with that measurement. I paid £85.00 for the night through Booking.com. Honestly, it wasn’t worth it. Pay more, get more. Lesson learnt. 😔😤🙄

I’ve stayed here a few times, using it as a base for a night out in Folkestone before taking the chunnel to Europe the next day. I love the old town. The old station and railway are cool, with lots of bars and other places around, and at last it seems the local council is getting more funding. The hotel is just what you’d expect, old-fashioned with an old-time feel. I need a hotel with secure parking, and there’s a small enclosed area at the rear. It isn’t secure, but it’s tucked out of the way. The owner always assures me it’s safe.

The location is amazing and the staff were friendly, but the room was a huge disappointment. Our daughter’s slightest movement made the bunk bed squeak loudly, so we didn’t sleep through the night. The balcony door was bolted shut and couldn’t be opened even a little for fresh air. The room wasn’t clean, especially by the balcony door and beside the bed. Some spots looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, so this didn’t seem like a single missed area during the latest cleaning. From around 8am, doors started banging just outside our room and it carried on throughout the night. It was very expensive for what was offered. Honestly, I wouldn’t stay in that room again even if it were free.
