The location is fantastic for le shuttle, and the room was spacious and clean. Still, we didn’t sleep well because the beds and pillows badly need replacing. The bathroom also had limescale caked on the shower taps and plug holes, and the shower curtain was dirty. A friendly young girl showed us the room, though I thought it was unprofessional that she was holding a vape while talking to me. It did the job, but we won’t be back.

The staff were accommodating and friendly. They even let us leave our bags in the office after check-out, which was a real help. Our room was small but clean, and the location is lovely, especially if you happen to get a sea view. Breakfast was a letdown: there was no hot English breakfast, and some of the bread had mould on it. Housekeeping could have been more thorough as well. I was most concerned that the fire escape stairs were being repaired, which didn’t feel safe. It’s a well-located place with kind staff, but it needs improvement.

This was our third stay, since we usually book here before our annual Disneyland Paris trip because it’s handy for the Le Shuttle. This time, though, the strong cat urine smell really spoiled it. We could smell it in the hallway and on the stairs as soon as we reached the first floor, and it was worse in Room 6. We slept with the window open. We know the smell well because we have a cat, and everyone in our group noticed it, including our 6-year-old. We’d booked the Family Room – Executive – Ensuite – Sea View, but didn’t get the room we’d stayed in before. We paid £125 for one night at the end of September, for two adults and three children. Arrival was late, around 7-8pm, and after buzzing we waited about 10 minutes for someone to let us in. A lovely young lad welcomed us. When we said we’d be leaving around 5am for the train, he offered to leave breakfast outside our room, and in the morning there were bags ready for the kids. That was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. It’s a shame, because it’s usually a lovely little budget hotel in an ideal spot, and our previous stays were great. We might have to stay somewhere else next year. That smell isn’t the start you want to a holiday.

We stayed overnight two weeks ago in two ensuite double rooms and a family room. The hotel was the cheapest in the area, and it met our expectations for a budget stay. The rooms were spotless, the bedding was nice, and they looked just like the photos. We were all on the first floor. The sea-view rooms had lovely views, and the rear room was nice too. We appreciated the little extras, including mini shampoo and conditioner and a chocolate each. Booking was easy, and we were able to speak with the manager before arrival. We called 20 minutes ahead to make sure someone would be there, and a helpful young man checked us in. It’s easy to find, within walking distance of the seafront, shops and cafes, and only a 10-minute drive from the Euro tunnel. This is a great place for a night’s rest before travelling. The large family room can sleep six plus a baby, with no extra supplement. It isn’t modern or sleek, but it’s an old, spacious Victorian house with plenty of original character. The information explains that the very cheapest budget room has a separate private bathroom, which is why we didn’t book that option. I’d recommend the hotel in a heartbeat. Thanks for a pleasant stay!

We stayed in Room 6, a five-bed room. The mattresses were comfortable, the breakfast was tasty, and the staff were lovely. Service was perfect, and the virus was perfect too.
