Travelodge Fort William

The WiFi was painfully slow. There are 30 minutes free each day, then it costs £3.50 for 24 hours, and downloading one app took over five minutes. It felt like dial-up. The room was nothing like the photos, either: a tiny TV, a bed that felt like a brick trampoline, and décor that looked like nobody cared. After waiting more than 15 minutes at an empty front desk for someone to respond to the service button, I was already fed up. This is easily one of the three worst hotels I've stayed in. If disappointment and discomfort are what you're after, this Travelodge has plenty. Otherwise, even a car seems better. I'd recommend the Marriott chain.

The whole place is very clean and the staff are good. I booked three rooms through the app and stayed five nights, and all the rooms were comfortable and good. The family room I'm in is really good too. I've stayed with other chains that weren't as good, so I'm impressed. Well done! I'll post photos shortly. Update 20250108: Still just as good. They have robot Hoover's running around, and they're excellent at cleaning the edges. The corner room they gave me is very spacious, with two windows around the corner. There are likely to be two rooms like that.

Jean at the front desk was fabulous and ready to help. The hotel could use a little updating, but for the price it was more than I expected. It's a nice little spot, especially with the main street close by for a wander.

For a very basic room with just a bed, this was ridiculously overpriced. The room itself was tiny, and even with a king sized bed there was barely space to walk around it. The “On suite” was tiny too, and the taps and shower only had a dribble of water pressure. I only booked because nowhere else was available in the local area, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
