We booked two nights and left after just two hours. The hotel was in a terrible state. Part of the gym ceiling had fallen in, there was no hot water in either the leisure centre or the rooms, and the worn stair carpets felt dangerous to use. Staff knew about the problems but couldn’t do anything about the facilities. Reception said it would take at least an hour for the boiler to get the hot water working. Even the first impression was poor, with letters missing from the hotel sign, and things got worse from there. Three days later, I was still waiting for a refund. This hotel needs a lot of investment and work before it’s fit for another season.

The room was very clean and the atmosphere made for a comfortable stay, but road noise came through loudly even with the windows shut and disturbed my sleep. Booking through Booking.com was easy. Breakfast and dinner are available for an extra charge, and there’s also a bar on site.

I stayed six nights and would go back. The scenery on the doorstep is world class, and the staff were consistently helpful and friendly. The clean, tidy room was comfortable to sleep in. The evening buffet changed three times during the week; it was tasty, and the chef was happy to meet dietary requirements. The pool was good for a swim. I didn’t try the gym. A decent place with nice staff.

We found the staff lovely, and the breakfast and leisure facilities were great. Food in the bar was pretty good too. Our room was absolutely spotless, even on top of the doors and mirror, and it was a quiet off-season stay. We booked through Booking.com’s Black Friday deal. We’re in the area regularly and will definitely be back.
