Fassfern Guest House

The host and house help were great, and the host was kind and gave us good food recommendations. Breakfast was really good, a Scottish breakfast with no complaints. The location was amazing, with a lovely view, an easy five-minute walk to town, and straightforward road access, not a tiny, winding road in the middle of nowhere. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had a great view. The only letdown was the shower: the water was lukewarm or kept switching between burning hot and ice cold. It wasn't terrible, but definitely not great. Otherwise, the room was perfect.

The proprietor was extremely gracious when she saw that stairs and my legs weren't a good combination. She changed my room and gave me one on the ground floor. I felt ill one afternoon and was grateful for the very comfortable bed. The place felt cozy, and the rooms had specially made touches. It seems to be an older building, as you'd expect of a B&B in Scotland, but it's immaculate, very clean, and smelled really good.

I booked and paid for a room at Fassfern Guest House through Booking.com and received confirmation that evening. The next day, Booking.com emailed to say the reservation wasn't guaranteed and suggested I contact the guest house directly to confirm it was actually held for us. I emailed that day and got no answer. Four days later I tried again, still with no response. I called five times, but nobody picked up, and leaving a voicemail didn't help. I also submitted the website contact form and heard absolutely nothing. Very disappointing. At this point, I'm not even sure the guest house still exists.

We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back soon. It's close to the town centre and well located, with spacious rooms, gorgeous views, and friendly, very helpful people. A beautiful place.
