The walk over from Inverlochy Castle Hotel is really easy if you're staying there. My husband and I loved the atmosphere and the food, and I can't stop thinking about their chips. Seriously magical, haha.

We had such a good meal here last night. My partner and I enjoyed everything, right through from the starter to the coffee.

We were sent to this pub because dogs aren't allowed in the castle dining room, and I'm so glad we came. They welcomed us warmly into a cozy place, even during those terrible storms. The staff are very dog friendly. I had the rib-eye dinner, and the steak was lovely and tender, with salad and chips on the side. The food was amazing, and you can get refills as needed.

The rooms are huge, which was a plus, but the mattress felt like an old waterbed and gave no support. The bathroom is spacious too, though keeping the shower at a steady temperature and pressure was difficult. It's a quirky inn, and there’s no staff on site, so check-in and check-out are at the castle. All the rooms are upstairs and there’s NO lift, something we really needed to know before booking. The castle may also try to upsell you a five-course dinner for £135 EACH.

We were glad to find somewhere comfortable and dog friendly after our Airbnb cancelled at short notice. The accommodation was warm and clean, with a bath and good showers, about what you'd expect from a Premier Inn. The common areas were closed because of COVID, and it felt a little expensive for what you get. One thing to know: you have to check in at the castle, an eight-minute walk away, however late you arrive. That really should be flagged on the website, in the booking email, or by reception when you call ahead, but it wasn't. The building and car park also need lighting at night.
