Apex City of Glasgow Hotel

The staff upgraded us to the top floor for our 2-night stay, and we really enjoyed the spacious room and the view. It was an easy walk to downtown and the rail connections, and the stay was a pleasure. Thanks to the staff. Take care with breakfast: we thought it was included, but it was a noticeable expense at checkout for what it was. That’s only a minor point, though.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. It’s a great value hotel right in the heart of Glasgow's city center.

My partner and I wouldn’t come back. The room had a TV from the 90s, with a few terrible Freeview channels older than the two of us put together. There was no wireless or Bluetooth way to connect a phone, and the welcome emails didn’t suggest bringing your own media, like a Firestick or USB drive. The TV was positioned centrally across from the bed, but in a room with a sofa you’d have to sit with your neck at a 45-degree angle to watch those channels. Putting a sofa in the room doesn’t justify a price hike when it doesn’t work properly. We paid for an upgrade from a standard room to a city view, but don’t bother. The view was rubbish and you have to stand up and look through a tiny window. The price wasn’t cheap and made us expect a lot more. An honest description would have helped. The reception staff were very friendly and said the right things, but the room and the unfulfilled promises made those words ring hollow. “We will see what we can do for you” was the last I heard from them. It felt like once they had the money, that was it. At 7:45am, just after I’d woken up in bed, a male cleaner flung the door open and promptly apologised. What kind of amateur outfit is this? Having stayed in many cities around the UK, we really regret booking here. It failed to deliver on everything it promised. Avoid.

It’s about an 8-minute walk from queens station and close to the city centre. Reception was really nice and friendly, but housekeeping started cleaning far too early. The loud knocks and clattering outside our room disrupted our sleep, especially as we hoped to have a bit of a lie-in after a busy day. The stay was decent overall.
