The location is unbeatable, and the staff are wonderful. The rooms have had a complete refresh since my last visit, and the result is fantastic. It used to feel quite old school, though still lovely. Now it’s modern and chic, with a brand new bathroom. The blackout curtains and very good bed made for a great night’s sleep. I’ll stay here next time I’m in town.

Stacey was amazing, giving us her time with a smile even though she was very busy. The setting, food, and excellent service made for a lovely afternoon tea yesterday. Thanks, Stacey xx

I’ve stayed here many times over the years, but I won’t be back. The renovated rooms are lovely and everything in them is brand new, but the service was shocking. Nobody warned me that the pub next door would be emptying beer barrels from 4am to 7am, only about six metres away. The noise was unbelievable. I also wasn’t told about the 10am fire alarm test. I panicked, grabbed my bag, and headed for the exit. Then at 7am someone started hammering in the room next door while they were still upgrading the other rooms. I called downstairs, but nobody got him to stop until 8am. When I complained about all of it, they offered me a £10 refund. I wouldn’t recommend this hell hole to anyone.

Being right in central Glasgow is a real advantage. It’s an easy walk to the sights and two train stations, and the free minibar was a thoughtful extra. We found the stay fine for the price and would come back, though several things fell short of what I expect from a four-star hotel. Our experience with staff varied. Some front desk staff were helpful and attentive, while others seemed disengaged and did the bare minimum with our questions. A young woman working the morning of October 21st was incredibly welcoming, and the cleaning staff we spoke to were helpful too. The room didn’t meet our expectations. There were no bathrobes or slippers, and some areas hadn’t been properly cleaned or serviced, with rubbish left by previous guests. The shower swung between freezing and scalding and couldn’t be set to a normal temperature. The toilet sink was clogged. It was also very dark in both the room and toilet, making it incredibly difficult to get ready for a wedding. We could barely see our faces, let alone shave or apply makeup. I hope management can use this as guidance, since these all seem like fixable issues.

Just before Christmas, this was a great choice. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, the free minibar is nearly unheard of, and the bathroom’s tartan tiles are fabulous. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms quiet, despite being steps from Buchanan Street and Queen Street Station. You can’t get much more central in Glasgow.
