Ibis Styles Glasgow Central

We were really pleased we found this hotel. It was quiet and clean, the staff were friendly and professional, and breakfast was excellent. If you’re driving to Glasgow, ask about the guest discount for the parking garage across the street. We’ll stay here again.

The room never felt comfortable during our cold weekend. Even after a staff member came up to explain the controls, it was hard to get the temperature right and cold air kept circulating. The bed was uncomfortable too, and we would have appreciated an extra blanket. Breakfast on our last morning wasn’t worth the price, with limited hot choices and some food only warm. The location worked well for our plans, within walking distance of Kelvingrove area and the city centre, and our room, 427, was quiet. The hotel is a short walk from the station; we were warmly welcomed, given an explanation of the hotel and a map of the main area, and felt safe there. We’ve stayed at other Ibis hotels in London, Edinburgh and France and enjoyed the city, but would find it hard to recommend this one.

The shower was another problem: the water pressure was very weak, and part of the fixture looked damaged. That left me concerned about maintenance and whether the room had been properly checked before it was assigned. The air conditioning in my room also seemed not to work at all. It was switched on and adjusted, but there was no airflow or change in temperature. I reported it, and a manager came to the room and offered a move to a smaller room, saying the air conditioning might work better in a smaller space. That didn’t resolve the problem with the original room. The alternative was below the room category I’d booked and paid for. I asked if another room in my category was available and was told the hotel was full, but later saw that same category still listed in the hotel’s booking system. That was confusing. After a long day of travel, I’d hoped to rest comfortably, so the issues were disappointing. Staff did respond, but the way the situation was handled and communicated could have felt more reassuring and empathetic. At checkout, I said I hadn’t been satisfied with the previous night. There was no acknowledgement or follow-up, which felt like a missed chance to address it. ibis Styles Glasgow Central has a pleasant design and made a good first impression, and the location is good. It has potential, but more care with room readiness, clearer communication and a more empathetic response to concerns would make a real difference.

I had a great stay and loved the place. The room was comfortable, the bathroom clean, the AC worked well and the WiFi was fast. Staff were cheerful and welcoming, and the location was really convenient. The hotel has great amenities too. My only small gripe was some old spill marks on the carpet in my room, which may be hard to get out. Nothing serious.
