Number 10 Hotel

The afternoon tea was fresh and good quality, with four sandwich choices, two warmed sausage rolls, two warm scones with jam and cream, and about ten kinds of bite-size cakes. We went with an itison voucher on Thursday 26 February at 1pm. A polite receptionist showed us to a small dining area beside the front bar, which was empty apart from a staff member on a laptop. After we'd settled and taken off our coats, another staff member, a man, took our drinks order. The tea and coffee arrived about half an hour before the stand, so we had to ask for refills and for the prosecco I'd ordered. The table was quite small for all the pots, cups, plates, condiments and the stand, so I moved cutlery to another table to make room. The service was friendly and polite, and the room was clean and comfortable. Dark wood panelling and dark seating made it feel a little dim, though the many windows at the front brought in light. The atmosphere was flat, with no other diners. A man from what seemed to be a funeral tea in another area came in to use his phone, then a hotel guest sat nearby with a pint. His very loud ringtone played “hail, hail the celts are here” several times, and he didn't answer it. I'd come again, preferably not on the day of a big international game, and might try the restaurant next time. I wasn't staying overnight, so can't comment on the rooms.
