The location was good, and the staff were friendly. My private room was apart from the rest of the hostel, so it was quiet. Towels were included and the bed was made. Still, for a private room, I expect it to be properly cleaned between guests. The room and bathroom hadn't had a deep clean in weeks, especially around the edges of the floors. I told staff during my stay, and they said it would be sorted that day. When I got back, nothing had changed. The room was extremely cold when I arrived, and I had to turn on the radiator to sit without my coat. The bathroom stayed freezing throughout. The ceiling lights were painfully bright, so I mostly kept them off. I know it's a hostel, but a clean space is the minimum. Other guests mention the dirt too, and basic improvements could make this place better. Dirty private rooms are inexcusable. One star.

For a few nights on a small budget, it was okay and cheap at $30 a night, so I would recommend it to someone in the same situation. I had a comfortable bed in a large four-bed room for women, with a TV and desk, plus a big common room. The location was good. There was dust everywhere and the room wasn't very clean. The bathroom door had no lock, so anyone could walk in at any time. The shower had such weak pressure that rinsing off soap was difficult, and washing my hair wasn't really possible. The lockers only worked with one of the big locks. There was one microwave for nine floors, so expect a wait to heat up lunch.

It was a good deal for what you got: a fairly spacious private hostel room with the basics, and it wasn't too noisy. Staff gave us useful tips for things to do in the city. The location was great for getting around on foot, with the subway a quick walk away. The layout did make it difficult to meet other travellers.

This was the worst hotel stay I've had. The staff were unpleasant, and I found them dishonest too. They charged us for smoking in the room, even though neither of us smokes, claiming they'd found ash on the window sills. It seems unbelievable to charge guests over mess that cleaning should have dealt with. I wondered if it was a way to get money, so be careful: the room may be dirty and you could be charged for it. The bathroom was filthy when we arrived, so we had to disinfect it ourselves, and there was hardly any toilet paper. The toilets have no lids. There's no divider between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, so water floods the whole space and runs to the front door. Cleaning seemed not to happen. Over five days, the cleaner came to empty the bin each day but never picked up the dirty, wet towels left on the floor because of the flooding. Avoid this place unless you want to risk being scammed or getting ill.
