At The Social Hub in Glasgow, everything I needed was there: clean room, reliable wifi inside and outside it, a 24 hr reception, temperature controls that actually worked, and hot water whenever I needed it. The staff were welcoming, competent, and went the extra mile. Special thanks to Zoe and Daniela, as well as the other staff whose names I didn’t catch. I stayed for a week, which counted as a long stay, so we got a discount at the restaurant. Had a great experience and strongly recommend it.

Even though my room was on the same floor as the bar, the 8th floor, I couldn’t hear a thing. The bed was comfy, the shower was good, and the staff were friendly, helpful and very nice. It’s about a 10mn walk to Barras Market and Modern Art gallery, and right opposite the Sharmanka Théâtre if you’re into quirky stuff. Great experience.

My stay at the hotel was good, but the communication around co-working was really disappointing. The main reason I booked with the social hub was the onsite workspace. While booking, I asked on booking.com whether I could reserve a spot and was told one had been booked for me. At check-in, I asked about it and the receptionist said it had to be booked separately and no one would have made that booking. When I tried to explain what I’d been told, they dismissed it. I then tried to buy a day pass online, but heard nothing until the next day. When I went to the co-working space that morning, I waited 40 minutes to get in and had to cancel several calls. If the person handling booking.com messages had clearly said I needed to arrange the space separately, I could easily have done it ahead of time. I understand that the hotel and co-working service are separate, but staff need to explain that clearly, online and in person. I’ve used plenty of co-working spaces, and this one isn’t for me either. For a 21 pound day pass I’d expect a desk and ideally a monitor, but day pass holders couldn’t use those, and that wasn’t clear when booking. I ended up working in the corner of a kitchen booth.

Incredible artwork on the outside of the building, and the place had a nice atmosphere. I stopped in for breakfast: the full works buffet was £21.50, or I could order Eggs Benedict and an oat cortado off the menu for £13. The greeting was lovely, staff were efficient, the coffee was good, and the Benedict’s were nicely cooked.

The room was big, clean and extremely comfortable, and the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and the facilities were great. It’s close to the city centre but still not busy. We’ve stayed before and will come back.
